Raw material preparation: • Prepare suitable raw materials according to the material type and specifications of the shaft to be forged. Commonly used materials include steel, aluminum alloy or other alloys. • Ensure the quality and purity of the raw materials, and avoid using materials containing impurities or defects.
Die preparation: • Make a die that meets the requirements according to the design drawings and actual needs. • The design and manufacture of the die must be precise to ensure that the metal billet flows smoothly in the die and avoid defects such as folding and cracking.
Heating: • Heat the metal billet to a suitable temperature for forging. • Control the temperature and heating time during heating to avoid undesirable phenomena such as overburning and oxidation of the metal.
Forging: • Use suitable forging equipment to repeatedly hammer, squeeze and twist the metal billet to gradually form the required shape and size. • Temperature and deformation should be strictly controlled during forging to avoid defects such as overheating and cracks. • Forging methods can be divided into free forging, upsetting, extrusion, die forging, etc. according to the movement method of the blank.
Cooling and straightening: • After forging, the shaft forging needs to be cooled. • Choose appropriate cooling methods, such as air cooling, water cooling, etc., to avoid deformation or cracking caused by excessive local temperature differences. • Straighten some shaft forgings to eliminate stress concentration and correct the shape.
Quality inspection and finished product acceptance: • Perform strict quality inspection on each shaft forging, including appearance inspection, dimensional inspection, non-destructive inspection, etc. • Ensure that the shaft forgings meet the design and use requirements. • Accept the finished products of qualified shaft forgings and keep records; unqualified shaft forgings are repaired or scrapped.
